Does god not like homosexuality

What does the Fresh Testament say about homosexuality?

Answer

The Bible is consistent through both Old and Unused Testaments in confirming that homosexuality is sin (Genesis –13; Leviticus ; ; Romans –27; 1 Corinthians ; 1 Timothy ; Jude ). In this matter, the Fresh Testament reinforces what the Old Testament had declared since the Law was given to Moses (Leviticus ). The difference between the Old and Recent Testaments is that the New Testament offers hope and restoration to those caught up in the sin of homosexualitythrough the redeeming power of Jesus. It is the same hope that is offered to anyone who chooses to accept it (John ; –18).

God’s standards of holiness did not convert with the coming of Jesus, because God does not change (Malachi ; Hebrews ). The New Testament is a continuing revelation of God’s interaction with humanity. God hated idolatry in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy ), and He still hates it in the New (1 John ). What was immoral in the Old Testament is still immoral in the New.

The Recent Testament says that homosexuality is a “shameful lust” (Rom

Does God hate gays / homosexuals?

Answer

There is a “church” in the United States that promotes the slogan “God hates fags.” This group pickets gay parades, gay bars, gay events, gay funerals, etc. This group also sometimes protests at military funerals, claiming that the soldier was killed because the USA is supporting the homosexual agenda. Is there any authenticity to their claims? Does God despise gay people?

Proverbs tells us, “There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a male who stirs up dissension among brothers.” Notice that homosexuality does not produce this list. It would be more biblical to promote phrases such as “God hates liars” and “God hates murderers.” While the Bible declares that God hates all workers of iniquity (Psalm ), the Bible nowhere singles out homosexuals as objects of God’s hatred.

That does not mean, however, the Bible approves of homosexuality. The Bible

How Should Christians Respond to Gay Friends or Family Members?

Caleb Kaltenbach (M.A. ’07) is an alumnus of Biola’s Talbot School of Theology, lead pastor of a large church in Simi Valley, Calif., and a married father of two. He’s also an emerging voice in the discussion of how Christians should engage the LGBT community. That’s because Kaltenbach has an insider perspective, having been raised by a dad and mom who divorced and independently came out of the closet as a gay male and a lesbian. Raised in the midst of LGBT parties and pride parades, Kaltenbach became a Christian and a pastor as a young elder. Today, he manages the tension of holding to the traditional biblical teaching on sexuality while loving his gay parents.

Kaltenbach’s unique story is detailed in his new novel Messy Grace: How a Pastor with Gay Parents Learned to Love Others Without Sacrificing Conviction and landed him on the front page of the New York Times in June. Biola Magazine reached out to him to talk about his book and his perspective on how Christians can improved navigate the complexities of this
