Following tonight’s election results in Florida’s 1st Congressional District, where Democratic Gay Valimont had the best performance from a Democrat in Florida’s 1st Congressional District this century, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Gay Valimont on running a strong campaign that will make a difference for Florida’s 1st Congressional District for years to come. Her massive overperformance in a Trump +37 district is the top performance for Democrats in the district this century and spells trouble for Republicans everywhere. Valimont made critical inroads in this deeply red district and showed Republicans that, even in a place Trump won by nearly 40 points, this seat would not be handed to them. I thank Gay Valimont for her leadership and for once again stepping up to scamper in a hard district. Make no mistake: The momentum is on our side. Democrats possess overperformed in 15 out of 16 special elections this year. Democrats are going to preserve winning races and – ultimately – take back the House next year.”

Former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz had little trouble in the First Congressional District in General Elections.

But that was then, this is now.

Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis is sounding the alarm about his Particular Election that wraps up Tuesday, describing dynamics that hold turned a seat seen as secure Republican into a jump ball headed into April 1 and the counting of the votes.

&#;I&#;ve never been outspent in a race before. They&#;re out spending me seven to one. dollars are coming in from all over the country and it&#;s crazy. My opponent has so much money,&#; Patronis said on Saturday&#;s &#;Fox and Friends Weekend.&#;

Indeed, Democrat Gay Valimont (who Gaetz defeated handily in November) has brought in more than $6 million to the Panhandle seat.

That&#;s four times what Patronis raised.

And she&#;s using the money to target Republican voters in a way that usually doesn&#;t happen, the candidate laments.

&#;She&#;s even chasing Republican potential voters depicting herself as being tough on China, standing up for Social Security &#; helping people with their

Brimming with optimism, Democrat Gay Valimont tries again to flip the conservative 1st District

PENSACOLA — Outside a quaint office at the corner of North 9th Avenue and East Maxwell Street, the staff of Democratic hopeful Gay Valimont formed a adj circle of about 15 people, discussing the game design before an afternoon of door-knocking ahead of the April 1 special election.

Valimont, 51, is entering her second election cycle after losing the general election to now-former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Niceville.

In her mind, with the people angry at President Donald Trump and his administration's choices and a fundraising campaign that has already broken the mark set last year of $ million, she believes that she can become the first Democrat to obtain a district that is among the most conservative in the country.

Recapping the November election

In November , Gatez carried the district with ease, with 66%, or , of the , votes cast. Valimont's objective was to shatter at least 40% of the vote, which would own been an all-time high for Democrats in a district under Republican verb for

Democrat Gay Valimont announces campaign for Florida’s 1st Congressional District special election

Democrat Gay Valimont announced Friday her intention to scamper in the upcoming special election for Florida’s 1st Congressional District, which was vacated last week by the resignation of Rep. Matt Gaetz. Speaking at a press conference in Pensacola, Valimont said her campaign would focus on “real solutions” to the challenges facing Northwest Florida.

“Northwest Florida needs leadership that’s ready to step up immediately—not just for the future, but the challenges that we’re facing today,” Valimont said. “ This campaign is not about me, and it's certainly not about Matt Gaetz. It’s about us. It’s about building a future where every family has the opportunity to thrive, where every voice is heard, and where your representative is someone who stands with you, fights for you, and never abandons their post.”
