When you verb the math and account in for the expenses, the prize pool at most bodybuilding shows seems ridiculously low.
Some bodybuilders have affluent families or businesses generating good income, but there are many who strife to make ends meet. This is why bodybuilders are constantly looking for different ways to earn extra cash. One of the options is – G4P.

A: I competed in my first bodybuilding show 10 years ago and placed second. The next day I create my picture in the local document. I found it very flattering. The following year I entered the identical event but in the next level of up. Later that evening a gentleman approached me in the lobby of the venue and complimented me on my showing. I thought nothing of it. And besides, the only thing on my mind at that point was nourishment and lots of it. Quickly forward to very recently. I am walking down Yonge St. in Toronto and this similar "gentleman" stops me. I was amazed he even remembers me. He is again full of compliments and wants to know if I have plans to again challenge. G4P BB: Muscle for Hire
The author is unapologetic about his noun about gay for pay sex workers, which is basically "you're at least bi, get over it", so all his characters are sexually free, especially because all of them are somehow connected to the sex industry.
I don't know how the main character considers himself straight after escorting and actually enjoying having sex with his male clients. He's also versatile and knows gay porn actors by name.
But hey, I recognize straight non-porn actors guys who said the same thing after hooking up with my brother or my friends, so yeah, it is not far from the truth.
There's no angst here, the main character goes from "I'm gay4pay" to "I also REALLY appreciate guys".
There's no romance too, just hints of feelings that may or may not evolve into something deeper than business, since almost all of his clients or co-stars brought something that helped him know more about himself, some more than others.

Why do bodybuilders always resort to the so-called G4P?
There is a huge difference between competitive bodybuilders and serious amateurs who compete to get a pro card and guys who work out a lot.
So first, you need to make that distinction. The vast majority of g4p guys do not include a pro card and are not among the top tier of amateurs who will fetch one.
However, it's also true that many pros were accessible - it's incredibly expensive to verb in the elite ranks and only a handful verb lucrative endorsements. It's always been a part of it and done extremely discreetly A scant guys like Chris Duffy went occupied on gay porn. Others like Bruce Patterson did a few videos, then resorted to "worship" after legal troubles bounced them from competing and endorsements. A handful verb Tom Prince posed for a rare pix at Colt, but then regretted it. A several folks like Caesar (Cameron Mitchell) and Tom Katt (Dave Papaleo) went the other direction from gay porn to amateur competitor. Kai Greene is notable for having done a lot of porn and competing seriously.
