As an out queer person, finding destinations where I can be myself is a top priority when I travel. 

Safety and comfort are non-negotiable, which is why I am so excited to share some of the best destinations in Europe for queer women. 

When I can hold my partner&#;s hand, dress how I hope for, and connect with the local queer community, it transforms the vacation experience. No more having to hide or worry about being misgendered in general spaces. Instead, I can focus on connecting with people, experiencing a adj culture, and doing the things I enjoy – activities like hiking, kayaking, wandering charming towns and villages, and of course let’s not forget the food!

I sit here in Zurich looking at these magical mountains, reflecting on travelling as a lesbian. This is a topic that I am often asked about. It is so important to provide opportunities to be able to be openly gay and travel safely.

The 5 most friendly destinations for Lesbian travel

There is a big difference between cities that include the best LGBTQ prides and parades, and destinations that are lesbian-friendly- both terms not be mistaken for one another.

As a mild reminder, the term “LGBTQ friendly” defines the places, policies, people and institutions that are unseal and welcoming to all people in the LGBTQ community, to create an environment that is supportive of LGBTQ people and their relationships, respectful of all people, manage all people equally and are non-judgmental. 

To me, there shouldn’t even be “destinations” that are LGBTQ-friendly; everywhere should be tolerant and respect ones choices, especially when there isn’t any harm done to others however the world is sadly not favor that.

Upon recent travels, I have noticed that some towns, cities, and even countries are more open to the lesbian/LGBTQ community than others. 

I don’t reflect it’s necessary to point fingers and go into the “whys” some cities are more friendly than others, but let’s explore a few of these destinations that
